In the heart of the Cape Winelands surrounding the historic village of Stellenbosch, visitors can discover one of its hidden gems - the picture-perfect Alluvia Specialist Winery & Guesthouse owned by the Burgman family. Since its establishment in 2002, Alluvia has quickly gained a reputation as a small winery with a big heart and even bigger wines. The name has become synonymous with warm hospitality, ilka wines (named in honour of the Burgman twins Ilse and Karla) and especially for its social consciousness.

The 'Give Me a Chance' Children's Foundation was initiated by husband-and-wife team Sandie and Delary in October 2004 with the objective to make a tangible contribution in the future of a community that can hopefully in years to come look back at this project as the turning point in their lives. "People do not exist in isolation from their communities, which is why we decided to support the Kylemore community in the Banhoek Valley were we live.

Although Kylemore is one of the poorest communities in our country, it is also home to a talented group of learners who dare to dream and are willing to work hard at achieving their goals. The 'Give Me a Chance' Foundation works to help these children realise their dreams by raising funds for scholarship programmes as well as establishing a network of strong role models to mentor these children." At Alluvia, unique wine-growing traditions combine with the breathtaking scenic beauty of the majestic Banhoek Valley to create an exclusive hide-away.

In addition to its award-winning ilka wines, Alluvia also offers a range of country suites, including a romantic honeymoon suite, stylishly appointed superior, luxury and spacious self-catering suites - all secluded with spectacular views. Guests can enjoy mountain bike rides, vineyard walks, a PGA Golf Green with sand bunker and three t-boxes, or enjoy amazing fly-fishing facilities on-site and in-room spa treatments. Alluvia recently launched a limited edition 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon under the 'Give Me a Chance' label to provide a futher financial boost for the foundation.

Profits of the sale of this wine go directly to the Trust which, unlike many others, is administered free of charge by Alluvia. Wine is sold at the newly launched tasting venue where guests will be welcomed with true Alluvia style and hospitality daily from 10h00 to 18h00 for a personalised wine tasting experience. Cheers to the joy of giving!
