Great support for charity golf day

The 'Give me a Chance' charity golf day hosted at Stellenbosch Golf Course on Friday, 22 May, was well-supported by local business men and social golfers. Pole vaulter, Okkert Brits, was amongst the well-known faces to tee off in aid of the foundation, which supports promising learners from the Kylemore and Stellenbosch communities.

The foundation offers its students an active and holistic support structure, which addresses their urgent financial requirements and other needs. A golf day and auction raised R45 750 for the foundation and the funds will be used to cover school fees, uniforms, sports gear and equipment as well as books and religious excursions for the beneficiaries. The proceeds of all fundraising events directly benefit these children to give them a chance to develop into well-rounded individuals and to enable them to fulfil their dreams by becoming financially active and contributing members of South African society.

For the past four years an annual fundraising gala dinner has been hosted to ensure that each learner is given the opportunity to succeed under the guidance of the Foundation. This year saw the addition of a golf day to the fundraising calendar.
