Marco Hendricks – 2nd Year Stellenbosch University

Marco Hendricks has been with 'Give Me a Chance' since its inception. Through his excellence, and the assistance of the 'Give Me a Chance' Children's Foundation, Marco was awarded with the GT Ferreira Bursary to fund his first year at Stellenbosch. 'Give Me a Chance' obtained further support for our shining alumnus through the sponsorship of text books. Marco was nominated on behalf of the Foundation as a recipient of the Black Business Quarterly Awards. We are proud to note that Marco was selected as a finalist from a pool of hundreds of candidates! Last year, he finished his second year of studying accounting at the University of Stellenbosch.

Marco enjoyed his time at Stellenbosch University, but after two years of studies he realized that he might not be heading in the direction that best suits his interests and strengths. At the end of 2010, Marco got the opportunity to spread his wings and go to America where he is currently working. He took on the responsibility to earn money in order to pay for his studies, which he wants to finish when he return to South Africa. Marco is thus using this time in America to earn money and to set himself new goals for when he return to South Africa to finish his studies.
